According to Marijuana Business Daily, women hold around 36% of executive roles within the cannabis industry, and nearly 63% of executive positions at laboratories and testing facilities across the United States. Women like Laura Harris, the active Executive Director here in Colorado for the CO Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, Jamie Lewis of Mountain Medicine, and Mary-Jane Gibson of High Times are all playing vital roles – not only within their respective companies, but in our entire generations awakening to the amazing benefits of cannabis.
The past few decades in America have seen a paradigm shift in the way women are represented in the workplace. Despite there being a long road to true equality, females like Marissa Meyer of Yahoo, Indra Nooyi of Pepsi, and Meg Whitman of HP have all taken the lead in propelling their companies forward in industries traditionally dominated by men.
If the cannabis industry’s continue bucking of this traditional dichotomy keeps up, our industry may emerge as one where equality is truly the norm.
We’re proud to have cultivated a family here at Rocky Mountain High that’s made up of so many diverse backgrounds and upbringings. We believe it’s part of what makes us a premier dispensary chain throughout Colorado. So here’s to hoping that as the cannabis industry grows, it will continue to recognize the importance that diversity brings to our industry and the world we live in!
